Tonkin Accountants began in 2009 in the Highfields community with Principal Joe Tonkin. Joe moved from regional NSW where he was a partner of a twelve partner firm with branches throughout NSW and QLD. Moving to provide educational opportunities for his young family, Joe and wife Nikki established themselves in the Highfields community, becoming active members of local sporting clubs, school boards, and business groups. Employing local staff from the area, Joe provided the Highfields community with it's first full time accountant, supporting many areas of community. Tonkin Accountants has supported Highfields Better Business Group, Mary Mackillop Highfields, Downlands College Annual Art Exhibition and Derby Day, Highfields State School, Crows Nest School, Hampton Festival Art Exhibition, Highfields Netball Association and Highfields Redbacks Rugby Union Club. Joe followed his older seven brothers and father Arthur Tonkin in education, to St Joseph's College, Hunters Hill. With a long standing tradition in representative Rugby Union, Joe has immersed himself into the sporting community, especially the Redbacks Rugby Union Club in Highfields, as treasurer, club champion, coach of the year, coach, player, sponsor and life member.
